When a field points to another record, for example an address, company or contact, Simply CRM normally only shows that record's name. With Reference Search Fields you can choose extra fields to show, so it is easier to pick the right record. You can also search on those fields.
Example: an address field shows "LEGO A/S, Aastvej, 1, Billund, 5790000000001" instead of just "LEGO A/S".
Set it up
- Go to Settings → Reference Search Fields (Danish: Opslagssøgefelter).
- In Select app, choose the module the field points to (e.g. Address), not the module where the field is.
- In Display & search fields, choose up to 5 fields in the order they should be shown. The module's name field (e.g. Company) is always shown first.
- Click Save.
Where it is used
- Lookup fields everywhere the module is referenced, for example on invoices, sales orders and contacts. The text you type is searched in all chosen fields.
- Reference fields in Custom Widgets (e.g. an address box on the company page): both the dropdown and the shown value use the same fields.
Good to know
- One setting per module: It applies everywhere that module is referenced.
- Empty fields are skipped: A record without a city is shown without one.
- Undo: Remove the extra fields and save to show only the name again.
- Long texts are shortened in narrow boxes. Hover over the value to see all of it.
